Values

Fundamentally, I think that students already have established views, and my job as an ethics instructor is to help them get clear about what grounds their values Thus, I try to organize my classes around developing argumentative skills, engaging in discussion, and critically reflecting on what they think and why. Ultimately, I want every student who takes my courses to leave better prepared to explain their own ideas, but open to the possibility of productive disagreement with others. Even if they never take another ethics course, such skills will serve students well in other classes and in life.
